What kind of accommodation can be rented on Samui?

Koh Samui is one of the most popular resorts in Thailand, so the rent of accommodation is an important question for many tourists. To have a nice holiday, you should find and rent comfortable accommodation. It is reasonable to pay extra attention to the process of finding and booking accommodation. In this article we will tell you what types of housing can be rented on the island, their approximate cost, the main advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Types of housing on the island

Hotels, apartments, condominiums, houses, townhouses, bungalows and villas on Koh Samui can be easily rented for any period of your holiday. The most budget and comfortable variant will be renting a house or condominium, especially if you book for a long term.

The main advantage of condominiums is that there is usually a swimming pool, gym, parking and security almost in every complex. The cost of an apartment in such complex varies between 15-20 thousand baht, depending on the level of comfort and distance from the sea. The disadvantage of apartments in condominiums is that most of them are far from the coastline.

Houses near the beaches are the most popular accommodation among tourists. Prices for renting a house vary between 18-20 thousand baht and 20-25 thousand - for 2 rooms. The cost depends on the area and the location of the house. The disadvantage of living in houses is that they are often located in an unguarded area without a parking space and a separate pool. But you can live in a few minutes’ walk from the beach and without any outside noise from the neighbors.

The price of accommodation including houses and condominiums also depends on the season: during the low season the cost can be reduced by 20-40%. With long-term rent (from 6 to 12 months), the price may be more profitable than renting for a month.

The nicest districts of the island

The location of the housing is also very important especially during the long-term holiday because you will have to look for shops, cafes and other facilities. Based on these factors, the most comfortable districts for living are Maenam, Bang Rak, Bophut, Lamai and Chaweng. These districts are located in the northern and eastern parts of the island near the popular beaches. There is a well-developed infrastructure, including various shops, markets, inexpensive cafes and restaurants.

In Chaweng there is a very active nightlife. Loud music and other sounds are constantly heard from nearby bars and hotels. There are also large shopping centers such as Central Festival, Tesco Lotus and Big C.

Rent and booking of accommodation

Renting of housing on Koh Samui will not cause any problems. You just need to choose the district and type of housing. If you are planning a short-term vacation, it is better to book accommodation before traveling with the help of online services. Do not forget that the good houses can be rented quickly by other tourists, so it's better to start looking for a housing at least two months before the trip.

If you want to stay on the island for a month or more, it is better to choose and rent housing by yourself directly on the spot. The best solution is to book a hotel in advance for the first days of your trip, and after arriving on the island to rent a bike or car and go around to choose the best option. The number of tourists on the island is constantly growing and new houses are being built during each season, so not all of them are presented at the Internet resources. Renting a comfortable housing in a good district of Koh Samui is one of the factors that will make your vacation unforgettable and full of positive impressions.
